We are thrilled to announce that starting from April 1st, we will be introducing a new and improved smart ranking algorithm as the default algorithm for Amity Social Cloud SDK.
Our new smart ranking algorithm is designed to enhance the overall social feed experience for your users by ranking the feed based on both engagement and time. This includes the number of reactions, comments, the time of the last activity on the post, and the time of creation of the post. By considering all these factors, we ensure that your users see the most engaging and relevant posts first.
We launched the new ranking algorithm back in Q4 of last year and have seen significant improvements in engagement levels for clients who use it. Therefore, we have decided to make it the default algorithm for all our clients, starting from April 1st. Currently, our algorithm sorts the feed based on the chronological order of the posts, with newer posts appearing before older ones. While this has been a reliable way to display the posts, we understand that it may not be the most effective way to keep your users engaged.
With the new smart ranking algorithm, we will be considering the engagement levels of each post, such as likes, comments, and shares, in addition to the time of posting. This will help to ensure that your users see the most popular and relevant posts first, even if they were not posted most recently.
However, we understand that some of our clients may prefer to stick with the current chronological order system. Therefore, we will be providing an option to switch back to the old algorithm. We also understand that one size fits all raking algorithm might not be suitable to all customers. Therefore, we will be able to tweak the impact of these different factors based on your needs.
